Low pressure makes for a wet week

RAIN is predicted over the next few days, as a low pressure front settles over the city, the Shanghai Metrological Bureau said yesterday.

It will be showery over the weekend, with temperatures of between 26 and 30 degrees.

On Monday, showers are also  forecast, with the mercury up one degree on the weekend.

Tuesday and Wednesday will also be wet, with highs of around 30 degrees.

Yesterday was cool because of rain and an east wind, the bureau said. The highest temperature was 28 degrees.

The bureau issued a yellow rain alert — the third in a four-level warning system — shortly after midday.

Shanghai has only had eight high temperature days with the mercury above 35 degrees this summer — a quarter of the number last year.
