Mercury rising once again

TEMPERATURES are set to creep up again following yesterday’s cool and breezy conditions, forecasters said.

Yesterday morning was the coolest this month, with the high just passing 24 degrees Celsius. In the afternoon, the mercury climbed just above 30 degrees — compared to the 38 degrees seen during the recent heatwave.

Today, the high will reach 32 degrees, tomorrow should see it edge up another degree and by the weekend temperatures will be around 33 degrees, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Cloudy skies are expected from today to Sunday with some afternoon thundershowers.

The increase in temperatures is down to a north-moving subtropical front of high pressure, said forecasters.

Meanwhile, the bureau is launching a personal weather alert service for some local amusement parks.
