Metro Line 14 to open in 6 years

SHANGHAI’S Metro Line 14 will go into service in 2020, its operator said yesterday.
The 39-kilometer route will feature 31 stations and link Fengbang Town in Jiading District to Jinqiao in the Pudong New Area. En route it will pass through Putuo, Jing’an and Huangpu districts and intersect with 15 other lines. The service is expected to carry about 820,000 people a day on eight-car trains.
An environmental evaluation of the project has entered its final round of public consultation, and once that has been approved, bidding for the construction contract will begin.
