Metro adds extra trains
MORE trains are being added to Metro lines 5 and 7 to boost capacity. The new trains on Line 5 will be equipped with advanced technology and serve the line’s south extension, which is expected to be connected by the end of 2020.
The first of the new trains arrived at Line 5’s garage at the end of last month for tests, the Metro operator said yesterday.
To meet the line’s increasing traffic, the new trains will have six carriages instead of the usual four.
Two trains for Line 7 also arrived in Shanghai at the end of last month. The line will have a further eight trains delivered by the end of this year.
