Metro may use text messages
METRO operator the Shanghai Shentong Group is considering using text messages and other means to keep passengers informed following the accident on Line 1 earlier this week which resulted in the longest delay in local subway history.
On Tuesday, Line 1 was shut down for an entire morning after two trains collided. Thousands of passengers were stranded in one of the damaged trains for more than four hours. The operator also kicked off a week of equipment safety checks on all the city subways.
