Metro offers comfort hotline
METRO riders finding it too hot or cold on board Metro trains and hoping to have the air-conditioning adjusted can now ask the subway operator through a hotline.
Riders can call the hotline at 6437-0000 to put in a request of Metro managers on the subway car temperature. The hotline has an English service.
However, the Metro operator cautioned yesterday that not every one of the callers' requests will be satisfied. Passengers may feel the temperature differently, said the operator.
And passengers may not see the change quickly because it will take time to check out the situation on the trains and make the changes.
The coming summer usually is the season that draws the greatest complaints about the temperature on subway carriages. More passengers are likely to ride the Metro network this summer because of the World Expo and they will add pressure on the network's cooling system, the operator said.
Since March, the Metro operator has been checking the system's air conditioners at all 200-plus stations and cooling systems on all lines except the Line 10, which is still in the test phase.
