More hot and sticky weather on the way

THE temperature reached 32 degrees Celsius today in Shanghai and is expected to climb higher tomorrow, meteorologists said.
With the influence of a warm and wet air mass, it felt very sticky today, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
The humidity was 55 to 85 percent with very little wind.
Similar conditions should continue tomorrow with the mercury expected to reach 33 degrees, the observatory said.
Rain with the possibility of a thunderstorm is forecast on Sunday and Monday, bringing the temperature down. It will dip to 31 degrees on Sunday and 28 degrees on Monday.
The humidity has caused an unexpected termite problem. Many residents, especially those living in old houses, complained they had termites in their homes. Swarms of termites were even seen last night at Metro station entrances across the city. Some even flew into high-rise office buildings downtown.
Experts said the current weather is conducive to termites reproducing.
