New BRT route plan outlined
THE government yesterday outlined its plan for Shanghai’s first BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) route, which will be launched by the end of next year.
The 31.2-kilometer route will run through Fengxian, Minhang districts and the Pudong New Area.
Buses will travel between Nanqiao New Town and the Oriental Sports Center, with 27 stops, including two regular terminals and one interzonal terminal.
Stations on Lianhang Road, Chenhang Road and Jianghua Road will be added in future, according to the city’s long-term plan.
Stations along the route will be 70 meters long and 3 meters wide, and will be served by 12-meter and 18-meter buses.
Like at Metro stations, passengers will pass through turnstiles to enter the BRT stations.
