New Metro line to link Yangpu with Pudong

CONSTRUCTION of Metro line 18 is expected to start next year, the Yangpu District government said yesterday.
Connecting Baoshan and Yangpu districts to the Pudong New Area, the 36-kilometer route, which is set to open in 2020, will feature 26 stations and provide direct links to 14 other lines.
Among those set to benefit from the new transport link will be students and teachers at Shanghai Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, officials said.
Starting from Changjiang Road South in Baoshan, the line will travel through Yangpu, under the Huangpu River into Pudong and on to Hangtou Station via the towns of Yuqiao and Zhoupu.
Elsewhere in Yangpu, construction of the Zhoujiazui Road tunnel will also start soon, the district government said.
The 4.6km project will link Zhoujiazui and Neijiang roads to Dongjing and Zhangyang roads in Pudong, it said.
