New city water source

CONSTRUCTION has started on bringing water from a new source upstream on the Huangpu River to supply Shanghai’s suburban districts, the city government said yesterday. The project includes the new Jinze Reservoir on the Taipu River and pipelines to connect the reservoir with the city’s main Qingcaosha water resource. It will supply cleaner water to the city’s southwest Songjiang, Qingpu, Fengxian, Jinshan and Minhang districts.
