New extension of Line 9 taking shape, expected to open next year
THE east extension of the third phase of Metro Line 9 has had its underground structures connected by this morning, officials said, adding it is expected to open by end of next year.
The city is aiming to complete constructing another 216 kilometers of Metro Lines by 2020. The new extension of Line 9 would be the first project to complete during the ongoing new round of Metro construction.
The new 13.82 kilometers extension runs between Yanggao Road M Station and Caolu Station.
It has nine stops, including one to connect to Line 14, which is still under construction, and another with interchange to Line 12.
The south extension of Line 5, third phase of Line 8, second and third phases of Line 13, Line 14, 15, 17 and 18 are also currently under construction.
