Overcast, rainy days this week
CLOUDY, humid weather with rain and some thunder and lightning is forecast for this week, with temperatures mostly staying below 30 degrees Celsius.
Today will be mainly overcast, with showers forecast for parts of the city in the afternoon, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
Tomorrow may see thunderstorms, and it will be gray with some rain for the days that follow.
At the weekend, the sun to set to reappear, with clear conditions forecast.
While the mercury should graze 30 degrees today, it will then drop to the high 20s through Thursday.
With temperature struggling to reach the 30s, this summer’s number of high temperature days — when the mercury hits 35 degrees — is unlikely to meet predictions from last month.
The bureau predicted 23 to 29 high temperature days this summer, similar to the average of the past decade.
But so far Shanghai has only recorded eight high temperature days — some 30 less than last summer.
