Park And Ride Schemes Extended

FOUR more park and ride schemes, or P+R, will begin tomorrow, encouraging commuters to leave their cars at a Metro station and take the subway for the rest of their journey. This brings the total of P+R schemes in Shanghai to six, city transport authority said yesterday.

The new schemes are at: Metro Line 1's Wenshui Road Station; Line 7's Dachang Town Station; Line 8's Aerospace Museum Station and Line 9's Songjiang University Town Station. Existing locations are Line 1's Jingjiang Park Station and Line 2's Songhong Road Station.

The city's six P+R schemes provide 2,250 car parking spaces. Parking prices are between 5 and 10 yuan a day.
