Parking getting easier under city’s elevated roads
THE city has built a further seven public parking lots this year under elevated roads.
These offered a total of 961 slots to address the parking woes of nearby residents and office workers, Shanghai Road Administration Bureau said.
Sited in Putuo, Jiading and Minhang districts, the parking lots include a total of 169 charging facilities for electric vehicles.
In planning are a further 2,884 parking slots under nine elevated roads in nine districts, according to the bureau, which has conducted a study in 10 districts this year.
Wu Guorong, deputy director of the Transportation Commission in Putuo District, said the Wuning Road parking lot would open this week.
“Future parking lots under the roads will be constructed on standards set up by those new ones, and older parking lots will be given a facelift in the near future,” Wu said.
