Peak-time Metro breakdown
TENS of thousands of commuters heading home suffered delays of almost 45 minutes yesterday after Metro Line 2 was hit by a breakdown. An equipment glitch disrupted the line about 5:45pm at the section between Beixinjing Station and Zhongshan Park Station, said the Metro operator. The broken-down train had to be towed away first before the other trains could move on, said the operator.
Services did not resume until about 6:30pm. Many commuters faced frustrating waits at stations along one of the city's busiest lines.
