Pleasant weather in run-up to holiday

THE weather during the last working days before the coming holiday will be good with clear skies and cool temperatures, forecasters said yesterday.

Although the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau has not announced the official arrival of autumn, the city has been enjoying autumnal weather since last week, and the pleasant conditions should continue, with temperatures ranging from a low of 19 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees.

"The weather should be comfortable in the next two to three days," said Zhang Ruiyi, a chief service officer of the bureau. "There will be a little shower on Wednesday but it should not have much effect."

Officially, autumn arrives when the average temperature is below 22 degrees for five consecutive days.

The bureau said the chances of that happening before the holiday were slim.
