Police WeChat traffic service

TRAFFIC police in the Pudong New Area have opened a WeChat account where motorists can check everything from their driving offence records to traffic jams, and even test their skills behind the wheel.

While motorists caught for traffic offences by cameras receive notification, some forget that they’ve had points deducted, said officials.

The account also provides a real-time road congestion map of the city to help motorists avoid snarled up areas.

Notices of traffic restrictions will also be posted on the WeChat account.

Drivers can also take a test to discover the weak points of their driving skills. On completion, they receive a report on their attention, memory, alertness and judgment.

While the WeChat account is in Chinese, Pudong police are looking to create an English version.
