Public set to consider Metro plan

THE city government yesterday released its proposals for the development of the subway system over the 2017-25 period.
Among the possible projects are lines connecting Chongming Island to the Pudong New Area — via a bridge over the Yangtze River — another linking Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone to the Gaohang area, and a third connecting the Hongqiao Transportation Hub to Shanghai East Railway Station, which is currently under-construction close to the new Disney resort.
The proposed program of works will involve 285 kilometers of track across nine lines, it said.
The proposals have been issued to solicit public opinion.
Full details will be released at a later date, the government said.
