Pudong Airport to build third terminal building

PUDONG International Airport will begin construction next year on its third terminal building, which will be the world's largest satellite terminal, a senior official with the airport authority told Shanghai Daily today.

The satellite terminal to be attached to the south of the current T1 and T2 buildings and will be finished by 2018 to offer another 100 aircraft gates.

The airport's two terminal buildings have 70 gates, which are not enough to serve the city's increasing numbers of air passengers.
Passengers sometimes have to take a shuttle bus to remote aircraft gates because of the shortage of nearby gates, said Li Derun, deputy director with the Shanghai Airport Authority.
