Puxi, water gates offer faster ways to get into site

IT took Zhang Yun nearly two hours in line before she could enter the World Expo site yesterday.

She reached the Pudong New Area's Shangnan Road entrance by Metro Line 8 at 8:30am. But she was not let in until 10:15am.

In comparison, visitors at gates in Puxi area had only to wait up to half an hour for the security check.

Despite the long wait - which was common at gates in Pudong, especially those close to the China Pavilion - the security check was quick.

"It's similar to an airport security check," Zhang said.

It took only a minute or so to go through the check, including the bag and body scan.

Visitors are advised to bring fewer belongings to cut the time to enter the site.

Another short cut was provided by the water gates, such as the Dongchang Road Water Entrance. Only 2,100 people went to the Expo by boat yesterday.
