Radio Under Control
THE city is to impose controls on devices using radio waves from 12pm next Friday to 12am on May 2 and on October 1 and 30 to ensure the proper operation of facilities inside the 2010 World Expo site, the Shanghai government said yesterday.
During the period, items such as walkie-talkies, industrial remote controls, amateur radio stations and school broadcasts will be banned within the Middle-Ring Elevated Road.
Around the Expo site, devices which give out radio frequencies will be banned within 500 meters of the site, officials said.
Mobile phones will not be affected.
