Railways ready for the rush
SHANGHAI will see a passenger surge at railway stations during the May Day holiday when the World Expo opens.
Shanghai Railway Bureau, which also covers operations in neighboring Zhejiang, Jiangsu and part of Anhui provinces, said it will handle 4.8 million passengers from April 30 to May 3, a 9.7 percent rise from last year. More than 1.35 million people will travel by rail on May 1, officials said.
