Rain to put damper on the fun
A cool, wet Lantern Festival is expected today due to a rain belt moving in from the east and a weak cold front pushing the mercury down to 5 degrees Celsius from 8 degrees, forecasters said.
Astronomers expect the Moon will be at its fullest at 2:20am tomorrow, but overcast conditions may make it difficult to see clearly.
The cloudy weather is likely to last through Thursday daytime and some scattered drizzle is forecast in the city late Friday.
The temperature between tomorrow and Thursday will range between 2 and 10 degrees, climbing to 13 degrees on Friday from a low of 6 degrees.
Warmer weather is expected on the weekend, with a high in the teens.
Yesterday was the third consecutive day of lightly polluted air. The concentration of the main pollutant, PM10 particles, reached its peak at nearly 160 micrograms per cubic meter, triple the World Health Organization’s safety guideline of 50, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said. But this week’s air quality is expected to be mostly “good” or “perfect.”
