Rains to wash away pollutants

THE air quality in Shanghai will be “good” today and tomorrow with the rains set to hit the city again, weather forecasters said yesterday.

The city was shrouded in smog for much of the day yesterday. The smog eased later in the evening.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said high humidity and weak winds were of little help in driving away the pollutants.

But the rain today and tomorrow is expected to wash away the pollutants.

There will be drizzles this afternoon. It will rain tomorrow but the warmth will stay.

The temperature today and tomorrow will range between 8 and 13 degrees Celsius.

But a cold front will pull down the temperature on Thursday with a low of 6 degrees.

It will also bring back the pollutants, along with the dryness and coldness that will last from Thursday night to Friday morning.

The rain will taper off by Friday.

It will be both cold and cloudy on Friday and Saturday with the temperature between 2 and 8 degrees.
