Readers pick city stories of the year
A METRO train collision in September that left more than 200 people injured and the introduction of new social security laws in October topped a poll of top city news stories in 2011 chosen by Shanghai Daily readers.
In the poll - which ran for two weeks, ending yesterday - voters were asked to select the 10 stories that most impressed them from a shortlist of 20 news events in the city this year. Events ranged from the tainted bun scandal to the launch of the Shanghai Disneyland project and basketball icon Yao Ming's retirement from NBA.
Shanghai Daily and ICS will award gifts to readers whose picks match the final result.
