Residents Back Call To Use Public Transport
TRAFFIC organization's plan for the Expo have won the backing of city residents with more than 95 percent of Shanghai citizens saying they will take public transport to the site. An online survey found 50 percent would be using the Metro with another 22 percent going by bus.
The plan called for at least 90 percent of the expected 400,000 to 600,000 daily visitors to use public transport.
Traffic authorities also plan to tighten the use of motorcycles and curb construction work. They have also reserved policies to cut the use of private and official cars on certain days.
