Restrictions unchanged
THE Shanghai transport and construction commission said there was no plan to further restrict vehicles with out-of-town plates to ease congestion.
Right now, vehicles with out-of-town plates are not allowed onto the elevated roads during weekday rush hours.
However, the effect of the restriction is ebbing away as the elevated roads have become packed with vehicles during non rush hours due to the rapid increase of vehicle volumes.
There were suggestions to restrict these vehicles for 24 hours on the elevated roads.
