Reversing truck caused fatal crash on highway

A FATAL accident on the Outer Ring Road was caused by a truck driver reversing along the highway, police have revealed.
The driver of a van which crashed into the rear of the reversing vehicle was killed. Police said the truck driver tried to tell them he had been driving normally when his vehicle was hit from behind.
But the surveillance camera evidence told a different story.
The accident happened near the exit to Wuzhou Avenue in the Pudong New Area at 12:40am on July 10. The van driver, surnamed Zhang, 35, was pronounced dead before he could be taken to hospital.
After he was shown the video evidence, the truck driver, surnamed Zou, admitted he had missed his exit and was trying to reverse back to it.
In another truck accident, a middle-aged man was killed yesterday in the Pudong New Area.
The man had been crossing Nanliu Highway about 5:50pm. The truck crashed into other vehicles, causing several other injuries.
