River restrictions
MARITIME authorities yesterday announced restrictions along the Huangpu River near the World Expo site for the opening of the event.
On Friday from 6am until midnight, the city's four ferry stations will be closed. Officials said five ferry routes will be affected.
From 2pm today until midnight May 1, only police boats, maritime vessels and specially licensed ships will be allowed in the controlled water area. That's the stretch from Nanpu Bridge to the mouth of the Chuanyang River.
Today, from 8am until 2 pm, vessels carrying dangerous cargo, fishing boats, tourism ships, private yachts and 5,000-ton ships or bigger are not to pass the controlled area. Other vessels can pass but not allowed to dock.
