Road closures set for marathon

TRAFFIC routes on both sides of the Huangpu River will face closures on Sunday to give way to the annual Shanghai International Marathon, police said.

Runners will cross the Huangpu on the Nanpu Bridge instead of through the Fuxing Road Tunnel like last year, giving them a city view. The starting point was also changed to the Bund instead of the Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall.

The event is scheduled from 7:30am to 1:30pm on a course that will take runners past the World Expo site before reaching the end at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in the Pudong New Area.

Roads will be closed

1. 6-8am

Zhongshan No.1 Rd E., Dianchi Rd and

Beijing Rd E.

2. 7:30-8:30am

Exit of the Bund Tunnel on Dongmen Rd

3. 7:40-10am

Lanes from Puxi to Pudong of the Dapu

Rd Tunnel; the exit of the Xizang Rd S.

Tunnel on Xueye Rd

4. 7:40-9:30am

Part of the down ramps of Yan'an

Elevated Highway, the Nanpu Bridge and

part of the Inner Ring Rd

5. 7:40am-1:30pm

Down ramp of the Lupu Bridge on

Yaohua Branch Rd

6. 7:30-9am

Zhongshan No.2 Rd E. and Zhongshan

Rd S.

7. 7:30am-1pm

Xueye Rd, Xueye No.2 Rd, Shibo Avenue

and Huafeng Rd

7:30am-1:30pm
