Search continues for couple, boy after shipwreck
SHANGHAI'S maritime rescue team says this morning they are still searching for three people who went missing after their cargo ship sank yesterday off the Wusong Port.
A family of five was on the ship when it went down in high winds around 2:20pm yesterday. An old couple was saved by a maritime patrol boat five minutes later after it received a distress call. A young couple and a boy are still missing, officials said.
A helicopter joined in the rescue around 3:50pm but failed to find the missing three, officials said.
The salvage of the sunken ship is expected to finish soon and environmental workers are cleaning up fuel spill on the water.
The 45-meter-long ship was scheduled to carry 770 tons of steel from Shanghai to Nantong, a city in Jiangsu Province.
