Shanghai shivers in cold spell
SHANGAI is expected to shiver through sub-zero nights all week, weather forecasters said today.
The cold spell should last three to four days from today with minimum temperatures at minus one or two degrees Celsius, according to Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
The minimum today was -1.4C degrees, the bureau said, with a high of 4C. However, wind made it feel colder.
Cloud tonight should make it feel a little warmer tomorrow, the bureau said. Temperatures are forecast to rise on Saturday.
Some vegetable prices have risen in the cold, with prices rising by up to 30 percent for pea shoots, eggplants and beans, according to the city's wholesale market.
