Shanghai spared by typhoon Kompasu
TYPHOON Kompasu skirted Shanghai this morning and headed north, left the city a peaceful sky after some showers before daybreak today.
It was forcasted that the typhoon would slam into Shanghai for the first time in 21 years. The city government cancled all kindergarten, primary and high school classes today but commuters woke up to a clear sky this morning.
Kompasu was still swirling offshore about 380 kilometers away from Zhejiang Province and was turning to the northeast moving at 38 meters per second, the National Meteorologist Center said before noon.
