SHANGHAI is still sweltering through a heatwave today with the mercury forecast to climb to over 37 degrees Celsius.
Shanghai Meteorological Bureau at 9:20am issued an orange heat alert, the second highest of the three-level system. The alert was also broadcast in the World Expo site to warn visitors.
Showers are forecast in the afternoon.
Weathermen say the city is still in its plum rain season although there have been three consecutive days topping 35 degrees.
More rain is expected on Sunday with the temperature dropping a little, the bureau said.
