Shanghai tourism survey published
A lack of parking facilities, high costs of dining, poorly located budget hotels, overpriced goods, and poor hygiene draw most complaints in a local tourism survey.
The survey released today by the Shanghai Statistics Bureau polled 1,000 people aged over 16 about the city's transportation, dining, accommodation, entertainment, shopping and sightseeing.
About 26 percent of the respondents said some travel agencies in Shanghai offer tricky tour programs and 20 percent complained about authorities' low efficiency in handling tourist complaints.
As for the city's entertainment offers, 33.7 percent of interviewees said Shanghai should develop more folk culture tours.
Although most people said Shanghai is better than other Chinese cities in tourism facilities, 73 percent think the city still lags behind cities in the United States and Europe.
