Shoddy faucets taken off shelves
MORE than 30 percent of the taps on sale in city outlets failed recent quality tests by industrial authorities.
The Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau tested 64 batches of taps, and 22 failed to pass muster. Some unqualified varieties, such as the Teli tap sold at Home Mart's Quyang branch, leaked after just a short period of use. Other taps were found to have flow volumes that exceeded the country's standards, causing water waste. The bureau has removed all unqualified products from the shelves.
