Shorter interval between trains on Line 9
MORE subway carriages were put into operation on Metro Line 9 today, meaning intervals between trains will be no more than eight-and-a-half minutes.
The interval was about 10 minutes before the additional carriages were added.
The second phase of the line, extending from Yishan Road to Xujiahui and ending at Yanggao Road Middle, is expected to be completed by the end of July and put into operation by the end of the year.
Metro Line 9 runs from Songjiang New Town to Yishan Road in southwest Shanghai, covering the districts of Songjiang, Minhang and Xuhui.
It started operation in January 2008.
