Showery but warm week ahead

WARM though cloudy weather with showers is forecast for the coming week, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said yesterday.

Today will be overcast with a high of around 26 degrees Celsius — down 1 degree on yesterday, forecasters said. The low will be around 18 degrees.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be overcast with some scattered showers, said forecasters.

While the rain will let up for a couple of days from Thursday, it is set to return again at the weekend.

Temperatures are expected to remain around highs of about 25 to 28 degrees, and lows of about 16 to 18 degrees.

The air was “slightly polluted” yesterday daytime, with a reading of more than 100 on the city Air Quality Index. Ozone was the main pollutant.

Air quality improved to “good” last night, with the index dropping to 55 to 75, said the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center.

Good air quality is forecast this morning, but is set to worsen to slightly polluted in the afternoon, with ozone again the main pollutant.
