Showery weekend before sun returns

KEEP an umbrella handy this evening as rain is on the way, forecasters said yesterday.

But while it will be wet it will also be a little less chilly, with temperatures climbing above 10 degrees Celsius for the weekend, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Yesterday, the low in downtown areas was 8.7 degrees, and as low as 2 degrees in suburban areas.

Today is set to be cloudy with light rain at dusk and temperatures of between 10 and 17 degrees.

Showers are also predicted for tomorrow, with temperatures of 14-16 degrees.

Sunny weather with some cloud is forecast for early next week, with highs reaching 17 degrees on Wednesday, said forecasters.

Air quality should be excellent to fine today, with the larger PM10 particles the main pollutant, according to the Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center.
