Sleeper tickets failing to sell

Sleeper berths on bullet trains between Shanghai and Chengdu in Sichuan Province and Shanghai and Chongqing Municipality are not proving too popular. The trains, which start running next Tuesday, will cut the time on both routes by half compared to regular trains. Currently, both routes take 30 to 40 hours.

By yesterday, just 10 percent of sleeper tickets for the first three days had been sold. And just two first-class tickets, costing more than 2,000 yuan, had been sold in Shanghai. Ticket prices double those on the regular trains.
