Some culture in financial zone

PUDONG'S Lujiazui area plans to add 80,000 square meters of support facilities, including restaurants and bars, into the area by developing green areas, underground space and some small roads.

Shibu Street, Fucheng Road and Huayuanshiqiao Road will be developed to meet workers' demands for eating and recreational facilities, according to the Administration Committee of the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone

A 2,200-square-meter commercial facility, featuring eateries and convenient stores on the skywalk connecting major buildings in the area, has opened to the public.

The committee also plans to encourage some local financial institutions to open up their own museums and small theaters to the public.

Some firms in Lujiazui have set up museums to exhibit their industry's culture, such as a bank museum.

Lujiazui will also get a symbolic sculpture to represent its unique financial culture. This comes after the installation of the iconic Bund Bull.

The committee may invite the public to participate in the design of the statue.

The move is among efforts to make up for the culture shortage in the area.
