Songjiang puts up cameras for errant drivers

SONGJIANG traffic police will use surveillance cameras to target drivers who park their vehicles at no stop zones outside schools, hospitals and residential neighborhoods.

Police are using net shaped yellow marker to indicate the no-parking areas, which are usually seen at the entrances and exits of administrative agencies, schools, hospitals, neighborhoods and other transport hubs.

All kinds of vehicles are not allowed to park, even temporarily, at the forbidden areas to assure smooth traffic. But Songjiang traffic police said a large number of drivers ignore the regulation.

Officers have now started using surveillance cameras to fight the violations. The cameras have been equipped at non-stop areas like the entrance of Gaole Neighborhood and Caihuajing wet market. No parking signs have also been put up beside the indicated spot. Drivers will be fined 100 yuan if caught.
