Spring-like weather on the way

SHANGHAI is expected to get an early taste of spring next week with the temperature climbing to 15 degrees Celsius, weather forecasters said yesterday.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said a warm front will gradually push temperatures up over the next few days and into next week.

It said today will be mainly overcast with a chance of light rain at night. The mercury will range between 3 and 9 degrees, it said.

The drizzle is forecast to continue until tomorrow morning while the temperature will hover between 5 and 10 degrees.

"The temperature should keep climbing for the next few days as no cold front is forecast to influence the city," said Man Liping, a chief service officer of the bureau. "The rainfall on Thursday night and Friday morning should be light and the weather should be mostly cloudy in the following days.

The Lantern Festival, which is on Sunday, is going to be cloudy with a high around 12 degrees, the bureau said.

Monday's high is forecast to reach 14 degrees.
