Sunny start forecast for May Day break

THE three-day May Day holiday is set to have a sunny start, though cloud is forecast for the remaining two days of the spring break.

Temperatures will be decidedly spring-like, with the mercury above 25 degrees Celsius on the first two days.

The sun is set to shine on Thursday — the first day of the holiday — under the influence of high pressure, and temperatures will reach 26 degrees Celsius, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Friday is set to be overcast, though with temperatures reaching 27 degrees.

Cloud is predicted for the final day of the holiday too, with temperatures edging down to 24 degrees.

Good weather is also expected on the three working days this week following a wet weekend, as the trough of low pressure causing that has moved east and temperatures are rising day by day, meteorologists said.

Today should be overcast, with the temperature ranging between 15 and 20 degrees.

Tomorrow and Wednesday will be sunny to cloudy, with highs of up to 24 degrees.

The low is set to be around 13 degrees for both days.
