Sunny till weekend showers

SUNNY weather will continue until the weekend but the mercury will drop to a low of 9 degrees Celsius tomorrow, forecasters said yesterday.

Today should be sunny with some light cloud and temperatures ranging between 12 and 17 degrees, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

It may be a hazy start to the day as the air quality is predicted to be lightly to moderately polluted this morning, with PM2.5 the major pollutant.

In the afternoon, stronger winds will help disperse pollutants and air quality should reach lightly polluted to fine.

A cold front arriving from the north will bring down temperatures tomorrow to between 9 and 14 degrees.

Sunshine and light cloud are forecast for tomorrow and Friday, with a low of 8 degrees and a high of 16 degrees on Friday, said forecasters.

Showers are forecast for Saturday, with temperatures of between 11 and 18 degrees.

Sunday will be overcast with showers and temperatures of between 14 and 17 degrees.

Meanwhile, Xuhui District authorities have said they will not immediately sweep up fallen leaves on Hunan Road and Fuxing Road as they help create an attractive autumn cityscape.

Minhang District has a similar policy on Xinling Road and Fudu Road.

Leaves are swept at dusk if they create a safety hazard in wet weather.
