Super speed train competes on price

TICKETS for China’s new-generation high-speed bullet train, Fuxing, will remain the same price as that of other high-speed bullet trains.

From September 21, seven pairs of Fuxing train services will run at a speed of 350 kilometers an hour between Shanghai and Beijing, the country’s train ticketing website said yesterday.

The train ticket will still be sold at the same price: 553 yuan (US$83) for a second-class seat, 933 yuan first-class, and 1,748 yuan business.

The faster speed will cut the train journey between the two cities to 4 hours, 28 minutes — knocking 21 minutes off the travel time.

Fuxing also means a faster service between Shanghai and Nanjing.

From September 21, there will be three pairs of train services added to the Yangtze River area, said Shanghai Railway Bureau.
