Telegraph poll crash kills motorist
A car crashed into a telegraph pole in Shanghai's Yangpu District early yesterday morning, killing the driver and injuring her three male passengers.
The accident occurred around 3:40am at the intersection of Zhongyuan Road and Nenjiang Road when the driver, surnamed Yuan, 23, was driving a Toyota to get late night snacks from an amusement venue.
The men had been drinking alcohol beforehand, and police are conducting tests to establish whether Yuan, from Yunnan Province, had been drunk driving.
The men suffered fractures in the accident and are in a stable condition.
