Temperature forecast to dip below zero tomorrow

The cold snap is forecast to continue with the temperature falling below zero tomorrow, but it will warm up gradually beginning on Thursday, meteorologists said today.

The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau issued a blue alert for wind, the lowest level in a four-tier warning system, at 9:50pm yesterday. It remains in effect.

The temperature dropped to 3.2 degrees Celsius in downtown areas this morning and was 1.3 degrees in Chongming County.
Heavy air pollution was recorded last night as a cold front from the north brought more PM2.5 particles to the city.

Air quality started to improve this morning with the AQI dropping to 101 at 8am, indicating the air was “lightly polluted.”
