Temperature plummets for Chinese New Year
THE temperature is expected to plummet before New Year, with weatherman saying it will drop from a top of about 11 degrees Celsius on Wednesday to -4 degrees on the weekend.
A strong cold front is expected to come through the city on Friday, bringing lows of -4 degrees Celsius on Saturday and gale conditions, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.
Until then the temperature is expected to range between 3 and 10 degrees, with a high of 11 degrees on Wednesday and some drizzle.
Most citizens will start the week-long Spring Holiday on Sunday, Chinese Lunar New Year's Eve.
The holiday runs from January 25 to 31 this year, the Year of the Ox according to the Chinese lunar calendar.
