Temperature to fluctuate

SHANGHAI will experience temperatures closer to summer and winter than spring in the next few days.

Today will be sunny with a high expected to reach 26 degrees Celsius. Tomorrow is to be partly cloudy with showers at night, with the low above 14 degrees and a high of 27, the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said.

On Sunday, the high is forecast to drop to only 11 degrees.

"Temperatures should fall on Sunday and early next week with a cold front, and the city should be windy by then as well," said Kong Chunyan, a chief service officer at the bureau. Locals were told to be ready for temperature swings.

Forecasters also rejected amateur weather watchers' predictions for a hot summer. An early spring does not necessarily mean a scorching summer, the bureau said.
